Dr. Vikas Gupta Board-Certified M.Ch Plastic Surgeon belongs to a family of doctors. His father is still practicing and is a renowned Orthopedic Surgeon in Amritsar. His elder brother, an eye specialist, is working for the government of Punjab. His wife is a Professor of Radiology at the best Medical Institute in North – DMC, Ludhiana. Following the legacy, and a family of doctors around, Dr. Vikas Gupta has vast medical experience and knowledge.
Academically, Dr. Vikas Gupta did an M.B.B.S in first class from Government Medical College, Faridkot (1990-1995). Thereafter, he did a Masters in Surgery from Government Medical College, Amritsar. After that, he did a super-specialization in Plastic Surgery / M.C.H from Christian Medical College Ludhiana, India. Further, he has experience working as a consultant / assistant professor of Plastic Surgery at CMC, Ludhiana. In pursuit of perfection, he joined a traveling fellowship / training in Hair Transplant & Cosmetic Surgery with the Plastic Surgeon – Dr. Manoj Khanna in Kolkata. There, he assisted and performed more than 800 Hair Transplants and Cosmetic Surgeries.
In the year 2010, Dr. Vikas Gupta started his own Cosmetic Surgery Clinic in Punjab, Ludhiana, with the name of – Profile Hair Transplant and Cosmetic Clinic.
Dr. Vikas Gupta has done thousands of Hair Transplants and Cosmetic Surgeries in his Clinic, and is also a regular visiting surgeon for Hair transplants in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Surat. Dr. Vikas Gupta used to work for one of the Hair Transplant Clinics / Chains of Clinics in these cities. He is also a member of IMA / APSI / NZAPSI / ISHRS / ASHRS, and FUE-ASIA.

To original research papers and 15 PowerPoint presentations, and being a trainer in the field of Hair Transplant and Thread Facelift in various National and International conferences held from time to time, Dr. Vikas Gupta’s journey is remarkable.
Dr. Vikas Gupta and his team are the pioneers / leaders of KEEP-IMPLANTATION or DIRECT IMPLANTATION techniques in India. This technique of implantation of hair is performed in Istanbul, Turkey. All instruments used by our side in this technique are imported from Turkey only.
In the field of Hair Transplant, we consider 3 Ds; Density, Depth, and Direction. It means if the density per square centimeter of the implanted follicles, the depth of the implanted follicles, and if the direction of the implanted follicles is near natural, then the results are 100% natural.
So most of the centers that are backed by technicians, or those who are not from the field of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, do not give due regard to these 3 Ds. This is the basis of Hair Transplant and implantation.
Secondly, when we do the harvesting, the most important thing is the torque and RPM of the FUE machine. That means if the speed or rotatory motion of the machine is more, there is tangential damage to the surrounding tissue which is not harvested. Then the second Hair Transplant from that area which is already harvested becomes too difficult.
Since Hair Transplant is a decade-old procedure. Lots of centers, that do not give due regard to the tangential forces or RPM, land up with scarring of tissues even with FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) Hair Transplant.
In our center, we use oscillating punches (Oscillating FUE punches are useful in FUE Hair Extraction in patients of challenging skin thickness), so there is no scarring at the back of the head. It is scientific as well as the best as of now. We stand corrected if somebody else is doing this.
